Update on Lyneham Primary School Communication & Social Media
News regarding our changes to communications.
As part of an ongoing review of our IT provision and e-safety practices across the school, we have been carefully considering how we communicate with our families and the platforms we use to do so. Following this review, we feel that stepping away from social media is the right decision for our school community. As always, safeguarding remains an absolute priority for us, and this decision forms part of our wider commitment to ensuring that all aspects of school communication are safe, secure and appropriate for our children.
We know many of you really enjoyed seeing snapshots of school life on these platforms - the achievements, the celebrations, and all of the lovely everyday moments that make our school such a special place to be. Whilst we will no longer be using Facebook and Instagram moving forward, please be reassured that we are still committed to sharing those moments with you and keeping you informed.
We are already working on ways to make sure you continue to receive clear, timely and meaningful updates. Over the coming weeks, you’ll notice more regular communication via email, as well as increased updates and celebration posts on our school website and in our newsletters. We are also taking this opportunity to review our longer-term communication strategy - we’ll keep you updated as this develops. Most importantly, there will be no disruption to essential communication - you won’t miss any key information.
In the near future, we will also be launching a Lyneham Primary School app, which will be used to share news, information and celebrations with our families. We will, of course, let you know as soon as it becomes available and provide clear instructions on how to download and set it up. The app will link directly to our school website and will share the same updates and moments from school life that we previously shared via our social media channels. However, using our own platform means that this information will remain within our school community, and will not be used by external companies such as Meta for marketing purposes. Our YouTube channel will also continue to be used to share special events and performances throughout the year.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and understanding. We really do appreciate it.

Red Nose Day 2026!
Red Nose Day 2026!13 March 2026 (by Laura Phillips (Community)) |
Here is all the info you need about how we are celebrating Red Nose Day this year!
We are so excited to be celebrating and fundraising for this year's Red Nose Day campaign! We have got a lot going on, so here is a sneak peek at what we will all be getting up to...
We have a limited number of official Red Noses, so they will be sold first-come, first-served with one per child. They cost £2 each.
- EYFS & KS1: Tuesday 17th March
- KS2: Wednesday 18th March
If you’re unable to get one in school, noses are also available to buy from: Amazon; the Official Comic Relief website; and TK Maxx (online and in store)!
We’ll also be holding a non-school uniform day on Thursday 19th March with a £1 donation. (This is on Thursday as school photos are taking place on Friday, so children should return to full school uniform for photo day please!)
- Designing their own Red Noses
- Creating Red Nose Day characters
- Making Be Kind posters
- Designing bookmarks to celebrate our Book Fair next week
Thank you for helping us support such a brilliant cause whilst having lots of fun along the way!
